Adam Saltz, Valedictorian is the son of Barry and Lori Saltz. He was the President of the Student Council, Vice President of the Key Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. During all four years of high school he participated in the swimming and tennis programs, serving as Co-Captain of these teams his junior and senior years. Adam has also been featured as Principal Oboist in the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, in addition to his regular performances at the All-State and District Music Festivals. He has received the Harvard Book Award and College Board AP Scholar Award and has had the honor of working in the Research Department at the American Dental Association in Chicago. Adam will be attending Nova Southeastern University in the fall for their seven-year, pre-professional Dual Admission Dental Program.
Kathryn Golojuch, Salutatorian, is the daughter of Richard and Nancy Golojuch. Katie has been an active member of Key Club and a frequent volunteer at Eight Corners School. She has played clarinet in band for four years and was involved in Oak Hill Players for the past three. Throughout high school Katie attended Pointe and ballet classes. She was awarded the Smith Book Award. Katie will attend Boston College in the fall.
Ashley Anastasoff is the daughter of Mark and Cindy Anastasoff. She participated in the field hockey and tennis programs throughout all four years. During her senior year she joined winter cheering. Honors and awards Ashley has received in high school include winning the 2009 Field Hockey State Championship and receiving honorable mention in field hockey her senior year. Ashley will be attending the University of Miami in the fall to major in Business.
Steven Arsenault is the son of Jim and Patty Arsenault. Steve was a member of National Honor Society, St. Maximillian Youth Ministry, and the Gym Dandies Children's Circus. He participated in the Cross Country and Track programs. He received the St. Timothy Award in 2010. Steve will be attending Wentworth Institute of Technology to major in Architecture.
Andrea Blodgett is the daughter of Don Blodgett and sister to Chandler and Annmarie. Throughout high school, Andrea has been a member of the Key Club and a player on the field hockey and softball teams. She has mentored younger students in Scarborough through her participation in the Big Brother Big Sister program. Andrea has earned honor roll recognition every semester during her high school years. In the fall, Andrea will attend the University of New Hampshire where she will be studying Occupational Therapy.
Kevin Cai is the son of Jun Cai and Wei Wang. Kevin was the captain of the Scarborough math team senior year and a member of National Honor Society, Civil Rights, Key Club, Model UN, ECOS, and Speech and Debate. He has been a part of the tennis program since sophomore year. He received many awards and honors during his four years of participating in the Speech and Debate team, including the degree of Special Distinction during his junior year and qualifying for nationals both his junior and senior year. Kevin will be attending the University of Chicago in the fall.
Paige Conley is the daughter of Kim and Ken Conley. Paige was the Editor of the SHS yearbook and a member of ECOS (the Environmental Club), Select Chorus, National Honor Society, and Key Club. She played volleyball all four years of high school and also participated in candlepin bowling until she was a junior. She won many awards for her bowling and also received the Cornell Book Award her junior year. Paige will be attending Allegheny College in Meadville, PA in the fall to study genetics.
Shelby Carignan is the daughter of Peter and Marti Carignan. Shelby was the Vice-President of the Environmental Club of Scarborough, a member of the Key Club, and a member of the National Honors Society. During all four years of high school, she played girls soccer, and her senior season she was captain and made the All-Academic team. Shelby will be attending Boston University in the fall.
Sarah Carroll is the daughter of James and Dawn Carroll. Sarah was apart of Key Club and volleyball since freshmen year, and was the secretary of the Pink Ribbon Club this year. Sarah will be attending Southern New Hampshire University in the fall.
Jordan Darling, daughter of Michael and Merri Darling has achieved great success throughout her high school experience. She played on the girls' soccer team for a year, as well as for the girls' hockey team for two years. She spent a lot of time outside of school volunteering at the local soup kitchen as well as in the children's ministry at her local sanctuary. She ended her career with a cumulative, weighted GPA of 98.4 and plans to attend the University of Southern Maine in the fall of 2010 to continue her studies in Early Childhood Education and Development, along with a continuation of courses in Spanish.
Melissa DellaTorre is the daughter of Corinne and Gary DellaTorre. She participated in Softball and the Track programs all 4 years, serving as one of the captains for the Cross Country, Indoor Track and Softball teams her senior year. She has participated in Key Club, Interact, and the Environmental Club of Scarborough and has received Certificate of Recognition from the Society of Women Engineers. Melissa will be attending Bowdoin College in the fall.
Shannon Eddy is the daughter of Steve and Terri Eddy. She was a member of ECOS, Key Club and NHS. She volunteered regularly with immigrants and participated in RYLA. Shannon played varsity tennis for three years and was captain for two. Honors and awards that she has received include a National Merit Scholarship, the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, the Camille Jania Award for Commitment to Excellence, the Yale Book Award, and the Scholastic Art and Writing Award for her senior writing portfolio. She will be studying international relations at Stanford University after taking a gap year.
Christie Edwards is the daughter of Beth & Todd Edwards. Christie was an active member of Key Club, Young Life, National Honor Society, South Gorham Baptist Church, Big Brother Big Sister, and has traveled abroad throughout her high school years. Each fall she played volleyball. Awards that Christie has received in high school include the honor and high honor roll and the Wellesley College Book Award. Christie will be attending the University of Maine this fall.
Abigail Farias is the daughter of Wayne and Barbara Farias. During her high school years she participated in Key Club and performed hundreds of hours of community service. Abby participated in the Junior Volunteer programs at Maine Medical Center and Mercy hospital and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. She also took part in Big Brothers Big Sisters and received a book award from St. Joseph's College her junior year. Abby will be attending Northeastern University in the fall to study Nursing.
Sean Griffin is the son of Tom and Mary Griffin. He is an active member of ECOS and National Honors Society, and he is the Treasurer of Key Club and a captain of the Math Team. He has participated in Cross-Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track all four years of high school, and he was captain of the Cross-Country and Indoor Track teams. He has held All-Academic and Western Regional 2nd Team honors in Cross-Country. This year, he placed 8th in the state in the Maine Association of Math Leagues competition through Math Team and 4th in the Pi-Cone South division. Sean Griffin will be attending Dartmouth College in the fall where he intends to major in Mathematics
Catherine Hall is the daughter of Dr. James and Nancy Hall. Catherine is a National Merit Scholarship finalist having taken to heart a Middle School concept of being a "self-directed life long learner". She has always enjoyed academics and found that when she studies, she tests well. This passion for knowledge has led her to graduating a year before her peers. Catherine will be attending Smith College in the fall, plans to graduate early again and continue her pursuit of obtaining a terminal degree in Physics.
Abby Lalone is the daughter of Faye Sandler, Dale Lalone, and the step-daughter of Bill Smith. Abby was a member of Key Club, took part in individual volunteer work at the Children's Museum of Maine, was a teacher's assistant at Bet Ha'am Religious School, and a team captain for Maine Handicap Skiing. During all four years of high school she competed in the volleyball program, as well as participated in Scarborough's first Alpine Nordic Ski Team her junior and senior year. Honors and/or awards that Abby has received in high school include the completion of the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., and the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award. Abby will be attending the University of Rochester in the fall with a major in biology leading to future dental studies
Cathy Li is the daughter of Rong Li and Xiao Li. Cathy Li was named the Senior Editor of the Yearbook and a member of Key Club, Scarborough High School Band, and Maine Medical Junior Volunteer's. Awards that Cathy Li has received in high school include the Williams Book Award, Academic Honor Roll and the President's Volunteer Service Award. Cathy Li will be attending Brandeis University in the fall.
Nathan Lynch is the son of Michael Lynch and Heather Carlson-Lynch. Nate was a distance runner for the cross-country team as well as the indoor and outdoor track teams throughout high school. He participated in the Select Chorus, musical theater, ECOS club, and the school newspaper, and was a founding member of the Ping-Pong Club. Nate was an enthusiastic member of the Speech and Debate Club and participated in this year's Model U.N. competition. This fall, Nate will attend Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.
Matthew Mayo is the son of Andy and Lori Mayo. During his four years of high school Matt participated in soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. He served as the Co-Captain of the lacrosse team his senior year. Honors and awards that Matt has received include the St. Michael's Book Award, SMAA All-Academic Team and All-State Hockey recognition. Matt will be attending Bentley University in the fall where he will also play lacrosse.
Sarah J. Moody is the daughter of George and Jill Moody. Sarah was a member of the Pink Ribbon Club, volunteered for Big Brother/Big Sisters and the Special Olympics Basketball program. During all four years of high school she participated on the basketball and tennis teams and served as captain of the tennis team her Junior and Senior Year. Sarah received the MVP award for her tennis team during her Junior year and the Coach's Award for Basketball her senior year. She attended the SMAA Student/Athlete Summit and was chosen to play on the SMAA Senior All-Star team for basketball. Sarah will be attending University of Southern Maine, majoring in Business Administration in the fall.
Dan Murphy is the son of Rick and Melissa Murphy. Dan participated in golf, indoor track and baseball, earning varsity letters in all three sports, and serving as co-captain of the indoor track team his senior year. He also was a member of the ECOS Club. Dan was named to the Southern Maine Activities Association All Academic Team for Golf his senior year and was a recipient of the Scarborough Athletic Council's Sportsmanship Scholarship. Dan will attend the University of Connecticut in the fall, and plans to major in Resource Economics.
Kelly Najarian is the daughter of John and Kim Najarian. Kelly was a member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior year, and was elected president of the club. Kelly was also a member of Key Club and was secretary of the club during her junior year. She received an art award for one of her pieces in the 2009 art show, with a $100 bond as a prize. At the New England District Convention for Key Club she won an Outstanding Secretary award. During her junior year, she won a book award from St. Michael's College. Kelly will be attending the College of Charleston in the fall.
Andrew Nigro is the son of Bob and Joan Nigro. Andrew was a member of the SHS Boys' Varsity Soccer team for 3 years (captain during senior year) and the Boys' Varsity Hockey team for 4 years (captain during senior year). During his senior year, he made All-State in both soccer and hockey while also making the all-academic teams for the SMAA. Andrew has stayed on the honor role for every quarter during high school. He will be attending and playing soccer for Roger Williams University this fall.
Zach Porter is the son of Cherie and Wayne Porter. He plays first doubles on the varsity tennis team and was a co-captain last year. He also has participated in soccer on the junior varsity team. He is involved in the Environmental Club of Scarborough (ECOS), Civil Rights Team, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Zach will be attending the University of Maine Orono this fall with a major in finance.
Tim Przybylowicz is the son of Michelle and Jim Przybylowicz. During his four years at Scarborough High School, he lettered in varsity tennis for four years while being an active member of Key Club and National Honor Society. As a junior, Tim was the recipient of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Book Award for Math and Science. Tim will be attending Northeastern University in Boston in the fall.
Julia Shinay is the daughter of Richard and Celeste Shinay. Julia held leadership roles in many clubs and activities, including Literary Magazine (founder and head editor), Newspaper (editor), and Art Club (president and secretary). Outside of school, Julia has spent much of her time participating in volunteer activities (including Relay for Life and the Children's Museum of Maine) and art enrichment programs (including numerous classes at MECA and Warg Studios, as well as two intensive summer residency programs, at AIB and RISD respectively). Honors Julia has received include a National Merit Scholar Commendation, the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Achievement Award, and a Presidential Scholarship from Pratt Institute. Julia Shinay will be attending Pratt Institute of Art in the fall as a Jewelry major.
Jennifer Snyder is the daughter of Terry and Donna Snyder. Jenny was a member of the Key Club and National Honor Society, serving as treasurer her senior year. During her four years of high school she ran Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track, serving as captain of the Indoor Track team her senior year. Honors and/or awards that Jenny has received in high school include: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards; SMAA All Academic team for both Cross Country and Indoor Track; SMAA All Conference team for Indoor and Outdoor Track all four years; Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track State Champions. Jenny will be attending Bates College in the fall.
Marina Sterrer is the daughter of Carrie Cabot Sterrer and Dr. Jordan Sterrer. Marina was a member of the Key Club and National Honor Society. She was named Secretary of the SHS band. Marina was a key player on the SHS girls' ice hockey team and played lacrosse. She was also a member of a travel ice hockey team, the Lady Breakers, which was Maine State and New England District champions and tied for fifth place at the National Tier II Tournament. Some honors and awards that Marina has received in high school include: MVP of the SHS girls ice hockey team, leading scorer of the SHS girls' ice hockey team, leading scorer in the Senior All-Star game, named to the Districts Band festival as a junior and a senior, and Honor Roll. Marina Sterrer will be attending the University of Vermont in the fall.
Jessica Solender is the daughter of Heather and Evan Solender. Jessica was Vice President and President of the bands, Secretary of the National Honor Society and Secretary of the Key Club. During all four years of high school she participated in cross-country, indoor track and outdoor track, serving as co-captain of the outdoor track team her senior year. Honors and awards that Jessica has received in high school include honor roll every semester of her high school career, acceptance into Maine's District and All State bands and orchestra and state championship titles for each sport she participated in. Jessica Solender will be attending Elon University in the fall, majoring in Education with a minor in Spanish
Roscoe Koehler Thomas is the son of William & Karyn Thomas. Roscoe, an active member in National Honors Society and Key Club, was on the Speech & Debate Team all four years achieving the National Forensic League (NFL) High Degree of Special Distinction. Roscoe was also active in Sea Scouts for four years, serving as President of Ship #12 from 2008 through 2010. Throughout his high school career, Roscoe was a strong three sport athlete participating in cross country, indoor track and ski team, and outdoor track. Roscoe placed second in the 2010 Indoor Track State Championships and broke the Scarborough High School indoor track high jump record, jumping 6'5Ó. Roscoe was also nominated to the 2009 Outdoor Track All Conference Team for high jump and to the 2010 Indoor Track All Conference Team for high jump and high hurdles. Roscoe has received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and will be pursuing a degree in aeronautical engineering.
Nathanial J. Tolman is the son of Greg and Kathy Tolman. Nate played both soccer and hockey all four years of high school, winning two state championships with his soccer team. He was named to the Class A All-State soccer team his senior year. He was also named to the Class A All-Academic hockey team his junior and senior year. Nate was a co-captain of both teams his senior year. He was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in Natural Helpers. In his junior year, Nate received the University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award. He will attend Colby College in the fall.
Crysti Tsujiura is the daughter of Steve and Shelly Tsujiura. Crysti was the treasurer of the class of 2010 since her sophomore year and a member of the National Honor Society. During all four years of high school she participated in soccer, where she was the co-captain her senior year. Honors that Crysti has received in high school are: Colby College Book Award, Portland Press First Team for girls' soccer, Maine Coach's All-Western Maine Team, and Maine Coach's All-State Team. Crysti will be attending Colby College in the fall.
Angelo John Verzoni is the son of Angelo and Lisa Verzoni. While at Scarborough High School, Angelo participated in the football program for two years and the track program for three. He has also been a member of the Key Club for three years. Angelo will be attending Boston University in the fall. He plans to study within the field of Communications.
Jennifer Wood is the daughter of Gregory and Donna Wood. Jennifer is the president of the Environmental Club of Scarborough (ECOS) and a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. Honors that Jennifer has received in high school include the Brandeis Book Award and Distinguished Member of Key Club. Jennifer will be attending the University of Maine in the fall majoring in secondary education.
