Class of 2010 High Honor Students

Erin L. Beal of Kennebunk, daughter of Deborah & Richard Beal, is a member of the National Honor Society, has been on the Varsity Cheerleading squad for 3 years, was the captain during football season and cheered at the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl. She was the recipient of the St. Michael's College book award, National Cheerleaders Association All American nominee, NMSQT Commended Student, IB Diploma student, volunteer at the Wayside Soup Kitchen, church nursery, and Parks & Rec Department teaching cheerleading. Erin plans to major in Secondary Education and also wants to join Youth with a Mission to teach the French speaking nations in Africa.


Sarah E. Brockway of Kennebunk, daughter of Cindy and Wayne Brockway, is a member of Student Council and the National Honor Society. She is a manager for the Varsity Baseball team and enjoys playing tennis and other sports with her friends. Sarah has been a Girl Scout for 13 years and recently traveled to Washington, D.C. with her church group to help the homeless. She also participated in a Youth Leadership Conference last summer in D.C. Sarah plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute to study either math or biomedical engineering.


Rachel A. Brown of Kennebunk, daughter of Jim & Stacie Brown, is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. Her athletic activities include tennis and skiing. She is the Vice President of her church youth group and participates in a Greek dancing troupe. Rachel plans to attend Suffolk University to study International Relations and Pre-Law.


Scott R. Eaton of Kennebunk, son of Ann Marie & Ernest Eaton, is a member of the National Honor Society, Piano Accompanist & Assistant to the Director of the musicals at KHS, Jazz Band and Math Team. Scott participates in Cross Country and was the Swim Team Captain. He plans to attend Northeastern University and major in Chemical Engineering.


Andrew J. Estrup of Kennebunk, son of Martha & Jim Estrup, is a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Helpers. He was the Captain of the soccer team and participated in track & field for two years. Andy plans to attend the University of Maine and is interested in exploring opportunities abroad.


Casey L. M. Hayes of Arundel, son of Steve Hayes and Jane Miniutti, is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in the Maine Youth Leadership program. He has competed in diving for 3 years and recently took 7th place at states, plays competitive Ultimate Frisbee and enjoys running. He has volunteered the last 2 years on the Appalachian Trail making repairs. Casey has received the College of the Atlantic book award. He plans to attend WPI and major in Environmental Engineering and Mathematics.


Christopher J. Hoch of Kennebunk, son of Michael Hoch and Deborah Hoch, was on the Executive Council in 9th grade: Mock Trial in 9th & 10th; and Youth in Government (Representative) 11th & 12th. He participated in the Ultimate Frisbee Club, Track and Cross Country. Chris has volunteered at Holy Spirit Parish as a teacher's aid, Equest Therapeutic Riding Center as a side walker, and received cum laude destination on the 2010 National Latin Exam and an Honorable Mention in the Bernice L. Fox Classics Writing Contest. Chris plans on attending Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, to major in History.


Eliza A. Hughes of Kennebunkport, daughter of Tracy Hughes & Dave Hughes, participates in Varsity Tennis and Varsity Volleyball. She plans to attend Elon University in the Elon College Fellows program in the fall of 2010.


Philip D. Hussey of Kennebunk, son of Tim Hussey & Marcia Landry, is a Class Officer in the Executive Council, Student Senate Moderator, Editor of the Rampage (newspaper), member of Student Council, & Cross Country Captain. His athletic activities include Cross Country, Ski Team & Ultimate Frisbee. Phil is also involved in Mock Trial, Model State, Captains' Club, KHS Band and was a DAR award recipient. Philip plans to attend Colby College.


Elizabeth M. Jacques of Kennebunk, daughter of Laurie & Mark Jacques, is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in Peer Helpers, Captains' Club and KHS Senate. Her athletic activities include Soccer (Varsity Captain), Varsity Lacrosse, Basketball and Tennis. Elizabeth was a former camp counselor for Mechuwana, a Methodist camp. She plans to attend the University of Maine for nursing and apply to medical school after acquiring a license in nursing.


Nika Kroyer Karlsson of Kennebunk, daughter of Katrin B. Kroyer, is a member of the National Honor Society and is an Advisory Group Discussion facilitator. She has participated in Track & Field, Ski Team and has danced for 5 years outside of school. Nika has volunteered with the Youth Ministry, is finishing her apprenticeship at MSK, volunteered with the 8th grade bike trip, and has been a caregiver for a neighbor. Nika plans to travel through a Help Exchange program and live with different families internationally and attend college the following year.


Lanica Kea of Kennebunk, daughter of Kimsang Say & Kea Aun has tutored ESOL students at KES for seven years. Lanica plans on attending the University of New England to major in pre-med.


Alienor M. M. Leon of Kennebunk, daughter of Catherine and Edward Leon, has been a classical guitarist for almost 11 years, a National Merit Scholar finalist, an IB Diploma student, and founder of the Nerdfighter's Club at KHS. Alienor will be attending Wesleyan University this fall.


Chloe D. Littell-Simpson of Kennebunk, daughter of Amy Littell and Brian Simpson, is a School Board student representative, Prevention Awareness Committee member, and speaker for the Captains' Club and Peer Helpers. She enjoys competitive dance and yoga. She is also involved in Interact, is a Therapy Dog and Maine Med Youth volunteer, and was the top child fundraiser for the MS Society. Chloe plans to major in biology at the University of New England and then go on to med school.


Kristin R. MacKenzie of Kennebunk, daughter of Robert MacKenzie & Karen MacKenzie, is a member of the Captains' Club, Peer Helpers and NHS. She is the Captain of the Varsity Cross Country team. Her outside activities include volunteering at Community Harvest and Camp Sunshine. Kristin is involved in Theatre, Wind Ensemble and Chamber Choir. Her future plans include attending the University of Maine at Farmington to earn a degree in Elementary Education.


Kristina M. Michaud of Kennebunk, daughter of Paul & Maureen Michaud, is a member of the Intro to Captain's Club, Academic Eligibility Committee, SMAA Leadership Conference, and the Graduation Committee. She is the captain of the Varsity Field Hockey team, has played Varsity Softball and was the boys' Varsity Basketball manager. Kristina does volunteer training as a C.N.A., volunteers at youth athletic clinics and tutors. She's been the student of the month at BRCOT and is the Class of 2010 Valedictorian. Kristina plans to attend Stonehill College with a major in biology (Pre-Med). Her career plan is to become a physician or a physician's assistant in pediatrics.


Thomas M. Mitchell of Kennebunk, son of Matthew & Diane Mitchell, is a member of the Math Team. His athletic activities include JV & V Soccer (Captain), Southern Maine Premier Soccer, JV & V basketball and soccer referee. He is a National Merit Scholarship commended student & religious education instructor. Thomas plans to attend Binghamton University and has been selected for the Price Waterhouse Coopers Scholars Program.


Daniel T. Neumann of Kennebunk, son of Kathleen Neumann & Timothy Neumann, is a volunteer at the Brick Store Museum and was in Track & Field in the 9th and 11th grades. He is a member of the Ultimate Frisbee Club. Daniel plans on attending Boston University for Electrical Engineering.


Helen H. Petersen of Kennebunk, daughter of Charles & Debbie Petersen, is a member of NHS, Model State, Mock Trial, and was the Class Secretary at Woodstock Union High School in grades 9 & 10. Her athletic activities include Varsity soccer (Vermont state runner up in 10th) & tennis (1st singles player 11th & 12th). Halley is/has been a member of Interact, U-10 assistance soccer coach, all-State Orchestra in Vermont, IB Diploma Programme, and spent a summer abroad in Paraguay with AFS. She received the Harvard Book Award, National Merit Commended Scholar, and silver & gold awards in the National Latin Exam. Halley plans to attend Georgetown University - Walsh School of Foreign Service to study International Relations.


Kayla L. Phillips of Kennebunk, daughter of Floyd & Gail Phillips, is a member of the Art Club and Fashion Club as well as a volunteer with United Way of York County and was a Kennebunk Rotary Annual Haunted House volunteer. Kayla plans to attend Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with a major in Pharmacology.


John E. Price IV of Kennebunk, son of Cheryl & John Price is a member of the Student Senate, National Honor Society, and has played tennis all 4 years of high school. Johnny is an Eagle Scout and built the backboards at the Park Street tennis courts as his project, a member of the Recreation Committee, an IB Diploma student, and serves as a Student Representative to the School Board. Johnny plans on attending Gettysburg College and would like to some day work in International Business.


Danielle N. Rafferty of Kennebunk, daughter of Joseph Rafferty & Norma Nardone, is the president of the National Honor Society, was on Executive Council all 4 years, and is a member of Student Council. She has played Field Hockey, Basketball, Lacrosse and was Varsity captain of all 3 sports senior year. Danielle has received the Cornell Book Award, KHS Faculty Book Award, and is an AP Scholar with Honors. Her future plans include attending the University of Pennsylvania to major in Bioengineering.


Susanna E. Rajala of Kennebunk, daughter of Richard Rajala and Marcia Rajala, is a staff writer for the school newspaper as well as the head of the art department on the newspaper. She received the Yale Book Award in 2009 for Outstanding Personal Character & Intellectual Promise, National Merit Commended Scholar 2010, and is a member of Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Susanna plans to attend George Washington University in Washington, D.C. to study Spanish.


Robert Geoffrey Rollins of Kennebunk, son of Julie Russell & Bob Russell, is a member of the Captains' Club & NHS, and has participated in Varsity Baseball and Varsity Golf. Robert plans on attending High Point University in NC to major in business and have a potential minor in entrepreneurship. His ultimate goal is to play Division I baseball for High Point.


Taylor Ashley Schmidt of Kennebunk, daughter of Andrea Schmidt and Gary Schmidt, is a member of Student Council and the Young Women's' Lives Club and played soccer in her freshman and sophomore years. She is a volunteer with the Kennebunk Free Library & Huntington Common and volunteered as a craft assistant for Susan Jones. Taylor plans on attending Johnson & Wales University to study Baking & Pastry Arts.


Katherine N. Shorey of Kennebunk, daughter of William and Carol Shorey, is a member of the Executive Council, Student Council, Captains' Club & National Honor Society. Her athletic activities include field hockey, basketball and softball. She was the Class Marshall her junior year and received the Principal's Award her senior year. Katherine plans to attend Boston College with a Biology/Pre-Med major.


Lauren E. Small of Kennebunk, daughter of Jan Small and Alan Small, is a member of the National Honor Society, Executive Council, Captains' Club and participates in gymnastics. An IB Diploma student, Lauren will be attending Northeastern in Boston, MA.


Sasha Thivierge-Bonney of Kennebunk, daughter of Myra Thivierge & Jeffrey Bonney, is the vice president of Student Council and a member of the Executive Council and Prom Committee. She has received the academic achievement award for high honors all 4 years, received a Dale Carnegie Award her junior year, and was nominated and attended the Medical Conference at Georgetown University. Sasha plans to enroll in the pre-professional physician assistant program at the University of New England.


Silas J. Wolff-Goodrich of Kennebunkport, son of Susanne Wolff, is a member of the Gentlemen's Association of Table Tennis, and his athletic activities include Soccer, Track & Field, Ping Pong and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Silas plans on attending the University of California at Berkeley to major in Architecture/Civil Engineering.
