Alycia Gelinas, Valedictorian, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Gerry and Denise Gelinas of Biddeford. She has participated in Student Council, National Honors Society, Interact, Be the Change Team, and Varsity Cheerleading. During her senior year, Alycia served as the treasurer of Student Council, secretary of National Honors Society, and was captain of both the fall and winter cheering teams. She has done a wide range of community service with organizations such as Interact, National Honors Society and Toys for Tots. Alycia was the recipient of the University of New England Book Award, the Spanish World Languages Star Award, and both the Most Dedicated and Most Valuable Cheerleader awards. She was also a member of the SMAA All-Academic Team and was recognized as a first team SMAA all star freshman through senior year. During Alycia's four years of cheering, her team won three consecutive Class A State Titles. She has been selected to cheer in this year's Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic. In the fall, Alycia will attend Northeastern University to study pharmacology and earn her Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Renaie LeBlond, Salutatorian, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Tom and Denise LeBlond of Biddeford. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Renaie has been involved in Student Council, Interact, National Honor Society, Swimming, and Volleyball. She served as Student Vice President of her class sophomore year. Renaie was the recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Association's Academic Achievement Award, attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Convention, and was a member of the All-State All-Academic Volleyball and Swim teams. Outside of school, she is a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Northern York County YMCA and has danced both competitively and recreationally for 14 years. In the fall, Renaie will attend Quinnipiac University in their six-year Physician Assistant program.
Katherine Campbell, Magana Cum Laude, is the daughter of Edward Campbell and Judy Sanipass. She will be graduating from Biddeford High School in the class of 2010. There she was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in both girls indoor and outdoor track and field, volleyball, and girls club lacrosse. She also participated in community service activities both in and out of school such as Address the Mess, Habitat for Humanity, and Relay for Life. Katie will attend the University of Maine at Orono in the fall to study biology as a pre-medicine student.
Nicole Cartier, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of a single mom, Buffy Cartier, of Biddeford. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Nicole has participated in Lady Tiger volleyball, Interact, and the National Honor Society. She played volleyball her first three years and managed both Varsity and JV in her last year. Only having joined Interact as an upcoming senior, she volunteered for numerous events and could always be counted on to be there. She also volunteered for the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters program in which she visited her ÔLittle' every week for at least one hour. Nicole served as Vice president of the National Honor Society; alongside the other officers, she helped lead the organization in raising money for many causes including the Haiti Relief effort and in collecting over 2,000 pounds of food with combined efforts of Interact for eleven community families to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast. Outside of school, Nicole has actively participated in Koryo Karate since she was seven years of age, and she has been an assistant instructor since her freshman year of high school. She is a black belt and will soon be testing for her second degree on July 23, 2010. Nicole will be attending Babson College in the fall to further study Accounting as she pursues a career as a CPA.
Kaitlyn Dutremble, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Kenneth Dutremble and Darlene Allen. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Kaitlyn has actively participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Interact, Cheerleading, and Softball. Kaitlyn served as Student Council Secretary and captain of ball fall and winter Varsity Cheerleading. Kaitlyn was the recipient of the Dartmouth Book Award, and was also selected for the SMAA All-Academic Team along with the SMAA First-Team All Stars. Kaitlyn was selected to cheer in this year's Lobster Bowl Football Game, and also won three consecutive State Championships with her cheerleading team. In the fall, Kaitlyn will be attending the University of North Carolina Charlotte to pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology.
Valerie Gikas, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Steve Gikas and Penny Hayne. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Valerie has actively participated in Interact, Civil Rights/Amnesty International, Gay-Straight Alliance, National Honors Society, the Drama Program, and Upward Bound at USM. Valerie served as secretary of the Civil Rights Team during her senior year. As a member of Upward Bound at USM, Valerie participated in summer classes, job shadows, college/career exploration courses and internships at the American Red Cross and the Animal Refuge League. As a member of the AP Environmental Science class, Valerie helped organize Green Week at BHS along with "Green Community Event" which was open to the local public. Valerie was a recipient of the French Star Award her senior year. In the fall, Valerie will be attending Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts and hopes to study History and Environmental Science.
Vanessa Gikas, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Steve Gikas and Penny Hayne. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Vanessa participated in the Civil Rights and Amnesty International Team, the Interact Club, National Honors Society, the Gay-Straight Alliance, Upward Bound at USM, and the Drama Program. During her three years on the Civil Rights Team, she served in different positions such as secretary, vice president, and co-president. During her senior year, she played a large role in helping to organize a community wide Go Green Event. Vanessa was a recipient of the 2009 Junior English Star Award and the 2010 Senior Spanish Star Award. In the fall, Vanessa will be attending Bennington College; she is an undeclared major interested in writing, languages, the environment, and social sciences.
Danielle Laverriere, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Steven and Denise Laverriere of Saco. During her four years at Biddeford High School, Danielle has actively participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Interact, BRCOT Student Advisory Board, Soccer, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. Danielle served as captain of the Varsity Soccer, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track teams. Danielle was the recipient of the 2010 SMAA Indoor Track Shirley Jones Most Improved Senior Award, the 2009 Soccer and Indoor Track Tiger Pride Character Award, the 2009 Marietta College Book Award, the 2009 Outdoor Track Most Dedicated Award, and the 2008 Outdoor Track Most Valuable Player Award. In the fall, Danielle will be attending the University of Maine to study Accounting.
Jaclyn McCurry, Magna Cum Laude, is the daughter of Timothy and Sheila McCurry of Biddeford. She has participated in sports all four years of high school. She has played basketball, softball, lacrosse, and field hockey. In basketball, she received the Tiger Pride Award her senior year, and in softball she was given the Most Improved Award and Honorable Mention All Conference her sophomore year. She has received a varsity letter in all four sports. In addition to athletics, she has participated in Interact and the National Honor Society. In her junior year, she was the recipient of the Star Award for the Social Science Department. In the fall, Jaclyn plans to attend the University of Maine at majoring in education.
Janson J. O'Neil, Magna Cum Laude, is the son of James and Renee O'Neil of Biddeford. He is a member of the National Honor's Society and recipient of the USM Book Award. During his Junior year, Janson designed an independent study that focused on assisting faculty with transferring and formatting data. He later passed the techniques he learned on to other students. Additionally, Janson participated in the "Field Based Natural Science Institute." sponsored by Eastern Alliance in Science and Technology (EAST). Janson will be attending the University of Southern Maine as a Physics Major.
Erik J. Villandry, Magna Cum Laude, is the son of Normand and Lisa Villandry of Biddeford. During his four years at BHS, Erik has participates in Football (All-Academic Team), Indoor Track (All-Academic Team), Spring Track (All-Academic Team), Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball. He was named captain for both Indoor Track and Spring Track for this year and has achieved National Elite Silver status in the javelin. Erik is a four-year member of Natural Helpers and is also a member of the National Honor Society. In the fall, Erik will be attending Bentley University in Waltham, MA to study accounting and finance as part of the class of 2014.
Travis J. Vigneault, Magna Cum Laude, is the son of Kevin and Denise Vigneault of Arundel. Travis participated in football, basketball, and baseball during all four years of high school and he was elected captain of each of these teams during his senior year. He was named to the S.M.A.A. all-conference football team and will be participating in the Kora Shriners Lobster Bowl football game in July. In addition to sports, Travis has actively participated in National Honor Society, served as the Interact Club president, wan as R.S.V.P. program member, and also a member of the school's math team. Academic awards that Vigneault has received include the Social Science department star award and the Williams College book award. In the fall, Travis will be attending Bentley University to study finance.
