Shannon Brenner of Casco, Valedictorian
Daughter of Keith and Michelle Brenner
First in her class, Shannon is the recipient of the Excellence in English award and Excellence in French award and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has received the Golden Globe Social Studies award, the World Language FLAME award, the NSLI-Y scholarship for AFS exchange to Russia and the Top Scholar award for UMO. Shannon is secretary of her class, a Lions Club student of the month, a member of the AFS club as well as being a Natural Helper. She has participated in drama productions and show choir for the past four years. Shannon is also the recipient of the Western Maine Conference Citizenship award and the Girl Scout silver award. She volunteers at soup kitchens and Look day camp. It is no wonder that her classmates have named her "most dependable" in the yearbook superlatives. She enjoys reading, writing, being outdoors and listening to music. Shannon will be an exchange student in Russia in the fall and will attend the University of Maine, Orono Honors College when she returns to major in international affairs and minor in anthropology. She plans to pursue a PhD and serve in the Peace Corps.
Carly Robinson of Naples, Salutatorian

Carly has finished second in her class and is the recipient of the Excellence in Latin award, Excellence in Psychology award and the Richard Feynman Physics award. She is a member of the mock trial team, National Honor Society, math team, Natural Helpers, and is a Lions Club student of the month. Carly is a member of the Varsity Club and has received the Varsity Club award for girl's tennis. She is a participant in drama, band, jazz band and chorus. Her classmates have voted her "most musical" in the yearbook superlatives. Carly is a Girl Scout member and is involved in the First Congregational Church of Bridgton Teen Group. Her hobbies include spending time with friends and family, skiing and playing tennis. She will attend Suffolk University in Boston, MA where she has received the honors program full tuition scholarship. She plans to spend a semester in Ireland and then pursue a degree in Law. Carly is the recipient of the Naples Scholarship Foundation Scholarship.
Elizabeth Horan of Sebago, Honor Essayist

Third in her class, Elizabeth is the recipient of the Excellence in AP Anatomy & Physiology award, a Lions Club student of the month and has received the SUMMA award in Mathematics both her sophomore and junior years. She enjoys running, playing tennis and reading in her down time. She competes on the cross-country running team and the tennis team earning Western Maine Conference All Academic All Star honors. Elizabeth has been awarded the Dean's Scholarship from Northeastern University in Boston, MA where she plans to attend and major in International Business. She is the recipient of the Mary Lou Smith Fund Memorial Scholarship.
Sylvia Talbott of Naples, Honor Essayist
Daughter of Celia and Marshall Talbott
Third in her class, Sylvia is very involved in many extra curricular activities. She has exercised her athleticism by running cross country and participating in outdoor track and field where she has earned Western Maine Conference All Academic honors and the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence. She is a member of the math team and has received the Excellence in Mathematics award and the Eugene Whitney Science award. Sylvia is a member of the AFS club and is a Lions Club student of the month, as well as being treasurer of National Honor Society and president of the Student Council. She has received the Maine Principals' Association Principal's award and the Daughter's of the American Revolution award. Although she is a hard worker, she still makes time to have fun; she has been voted "Best Sense of Humor" by her classmates. Sylvia likes to tie-dye, read and relax in her down time. She is the recipient of The MELMAC Richard W. Tyler Principal's Scholarship, the Hazel F. Cook National Honor Society Scholarship, the Mountain View Dentistry award, the Naples Scholarship Foundation Scholarship, the Student Council Scholarship and the Crooked River Elementary School Scholarship as well as received scholarships from the Elks Lodge and Wal-Mart to help pay for her continued education at Northeastern University in Boston, MA where she plans to major in Biology.
Daniel Casey of Bridgton

Daniel is 2nd vice president of Varsity Club in charge of Winter Carnival and a Lions Club student of the month. He is a talented athlete competing on the ice hockey and soccer teams for four years where he has received Varsity Club honors, Western Maine Conference All Academic All Star honors and the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence. Daniel is also an active member of the National Honor Society and helps out at the Learn to Play Hockey program at Bridgton Academy. His fashion sense has been recognized by his classmates as they have awarded him "best dressed" superlative in the yearbook. When Daniel is not playing sports, he enjoys the "outdoors" or working on his car. He will attend the University of Maine, Orono where he will pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. Dan is the recipient of the Bridgton Scholarship Foundation George Riley Memorial Scholarship & Frank Pike, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and the Kendal C. & Anna Ham Charitable Foundation Scholarship.
Kari Cowperthwaite of Naples

Kari is a member of the National Honor Society, drama club, and show choir. She is also one of the Lions Club student's of the month. She has received the "best eyes" superlative in the yearbook. Kari has been a member of the track and soccer teams for four years earning Varsity Club honors and Western Maine Conference All Academic All Star honors. She has received the Lake Region Boosters Sportsmanship award and the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence. Kari also enjoys art and music. She plans to attend Emerson College in Boston, MA this fall.
Rachel Curtis of Casco
Daughter of Ann and Michael Curtis
Rachel is a member of Natural Helpers and has performed with show choir and the drama club for four years. She is a dedicated volunteer in her community volunteering her time at the CAC Food Pantry and the Salvation Army. Rachel is a Lions Club student of the month and a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated on the dance team and enjoyed performing at the state house for the governor. Rachel has participated in field hockey and tennis for four years and has received varsity club honors for field hockey and has been selected to the Western Maine Conference All Academic All Star team and received Western Maine Conference Class B All Conference 1st Team selection. She also has received the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence. After graduation, Rachel plans to join the United States Navy.
Sarah Cutting of Sebago

Sarah has been very involved throughout her high school career at Lake Region. She is vice president of her class, secretary of National Honor Society, 1st vice president of the Varsity Club in charge of Homecoming, a Lions Club student of the month and an active participant in drama productions. She has received the Excellence in Spanish award, as well as the Western Maine Conference All-Academic All Star awards for both alpine skiing and cross country running participating for four years each earning varsity club honors for both. She is a recipient of the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence. She is also a member of the cheerleading team. Sarah volunteers at Camp Sunshine and at the Wayside Soup Kitchen. She likes to dance and go running in her free time. Sarah will attend Bryant University in Smithfield, RI where she will major in Business Marketing and minor in Biotechnology. She is the recipient of the Daniel McGowan Hays Bridgton-Lakes Region Rotary Club Scholarship, the Maple Grove Grange Award, the Sebago Lions Club Scholarship and the Theodore E. Nutting Scholarship.

Alysia is an active member of show choir. She enjoys photography and writing. In her spare time she likes helping out neighbors and keeping her environmental surroundings clean. She plans to attend college at the University of Southern Maine and see what direction this takes her. She is the recipient of the Mitchell Institute Senator George J. Mitchell Scholarship and the Naples Scholarship Foundation Scholarship.

Steven is a Rotary Club citizen of the month and has received the Outstanding Progress in English and Outstanding Progress in Mathematics awards as well as the Excellence in Forensic Science award. He plans to continue his education at Southern Maine Community College where he will study Law Enforcement and Security. His hobbies include graphic design, biking, metal detecting and playing guitar.

Ella is a member of the math team, the AFS Club and the tennis team. She has received the Pi Cone Math Team Coach's award and the Excellence in United States History award. She is always willing to help her fellow classmates when they have questions. She enjoys reading and watching movies in her down time. Ella will attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for pre-medical studies. She is the recipient of the Bridgton Hospital Guild Hazel Cook & Emily Richards Scholarships and the Naples Scholarship Foundation Scholarship.
Cody Leland of Bridgton
Son of Dan and Dagny Leland
Cody has been quite the student athlete over the last four years playing three sports a year and earning Varsity Club honors for all three as well as Western Maine Conference All Academic All Star honors. His senior year he has been Captain of his soccer, ice hockey and baseball teams and has been chosen as a first team All-Conference player in ice hockey. He is the recipient of the Varsity Club award for baseball and ice hockey and received the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence as well as the Steve Gammon Award for Male Athlete of the Year. He is president of the Varsity Club and a member of Natural Helpers. Cody is also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and at their spring conference earned a gold medal in business communication and two silver medals, one in accounting and the other in banking financial systems. He volunteers in his community at a soup kitchen, helps stack wood for those who can no longer do it themselves and helps out at Little League tryouts. His natural charm is recognized by his classmates as he has been named "class flirt" in the yearbook superlatives. Cody will attend Salve Regina University in Newport, RI where he will major in Business. Nicholas Marcella of North Bridgton

Nicholas has been an amazing athlete at Lake Region. He is captain of the football and baseball teams where he received Varsity Club honors for four years of participation in both. He has received the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence, the Varsity Club award for football and the Lake Region Boosters Sportsmanship award. He has received the honor of being named a Hancock Lumber player of the week, as well as a Western Maine Conference All-Academic All Star and Campbell Conference All Star in football. He is a Rotary Club student of the month, a member of the Varsity Club and helps on the then project graduation committee. His hobbies include playing video games, hanging out with friends and following college sports. He plans to attend Bridgton Academy and then pursue his desire to become a high school teacher. He is a recipient of the Kendal C. & Anna Ham Charitable Foundation Scholarship.
Lucas Mascia, AFS Exchange student from Brazil and Naples

Lucas has been a great addition to LRHS. He is a three sport athlete competing in soccer, alpine skiing and tennis. He is a Hancock Lumber player of the week in tennis and has received honorary Varsity Club membership honors as a tri-athlete and scholar. He has also been active on the math team and in the AFS Club. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus in Windham and enjoys playing computer games and going boating. Lucas has received a full scholarship to the University of Maine, Orono where he plans to become an electrical engineer working with robotics.
Andi Mitchell of Casco
Daughter of Wanda and Jon Vaughn-Carr
Andi can always be found with a smile on her face. She is a very active young lady participating in several school clubs including the AFS Club, Varsity Club as 3rd vice president, Student Council, Natural Helpers and the National Honor Society. Andi is a member of the varsity soccer and softball teams where she has received various awards over the years along with varsity club honors for four years of participation in each as well as the Varsity Club award for each. She is a Western Maine Conference Academic All Star and the recipient of the Principal's Award for Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence and the Sonya Flanigan Award for Female Athlete of the Year. She has received "most likely to be MVP" in the yearbook superlatives. She is very involved in her church and when she has spare time she enjoys playing sports as well as the piano. In the fall, Andi will attend Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont to study environmental science. Andi is the recipient of the Betty & Sumner O. Hancock Scholarship Fund Scholarship, the Crooked River Elementary School Scholarship and the Jack McCleery Scholarship.

Aim is a serious scholar at Lake Region High School, but she also finds time to participate in school and community activities. She is a member of the AFS Club, Drama Club, math team and tennis team. She loved taking part in "Guys & Dolls" drama production and has made many friends. Aim is the recipient of the Excellence in AP Biology award as well as the Excellence in United States History award. In her spare time, she likes to surf the internet and read books. Aim plans to return to Thailand for college at Chulalongkorn University to study accounting.
Nathan Polhemus of Sebago
Son of Gary and Kathleen Polhemus
Nathan has a love for music. He is a member of the Jazz Band, Jazz Choir, Show Choir, and the Drama Club. He is a member of the District II Honors Jazz band and is a recipient of the Western Maine Conference Citizenship award. He performs in benefit concerts and community events. Nathan likes to compose on the piano and guitar; he also likes to travel, hike and garden in his free time. He is president of National Honor Society, and a member of Student Council and Natural Helpers. Nathan participates on the math team and is a Lions Club student of the month. In addition, he volunteers his time at Preble St. Resource Center and tutors fellow high school students. Nathan is the recipient of the UB Provost Scholarship, the UA Frederick Douglass Scholarship and the Presidential Scholarship from the University of Southern Maine. He will attend the University of Southern Maine in the fall and study biochemistry and music. He plans to continue performing.

Eleonora has enjoyed her year at Lake Region High School. She is a member of the Drama Club and the AFS Club. She has received the Outstanding Effort in United States History award and Varsity Club honorary honors for her participation on the cheerleading team and tennis team. Eleonora will return to Italy to complete her final year of high school. As of now, she is undecided about the career path she will pursue.
Carolynne Skarbinski of Naples

Carolynne is a member of the field hockey and tennis teams. She is a recipient of the Hancock Lumber player of the week award and made the Western Maine Conference Class B 2nd All Conference team in field hockey as well as the Western Maine Conference All Academic All Star team. She is the recipient of Varsity Club honors for participating in two sports a year for four years and the Principal's Award in Academics, Leadership & Athletic Excellence. Carolynne is president of the Interact Club, a member of the yearbook staff, a Natural Helper and active on the prom committee. She has given a lot of her time and energy back to the community when she helped buy gifts for children in need at Christmas, assisted with Project Warm and participated in community culture celebrations. When she has some time of her own, she likes to draw and play sports. In the fall, Carolynne will pursue a career in elementary education at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. She is the recipient of the Keep My Spirit Fund Scholarship and the Naples Scholarship Foundation Scholarship.
